Sapele Doors At DKR Joinery

The job carried out was just on the outskirts of Winchester. The job was to build a door and frame matching the client’s requirements which included a feature curved head and frosted glass with raised and fielded panels at the bottom of the door. As the door was fitted into an existing opening it meant that our initial site survey was very important. We needed to make sure that we templated the curved head correctly otherwise the door wouldn’t fit.

Material-wise the customer went for Sapele which is a hardwood. The top stretch had frosted glass panes, which is a popular option for many of our customers. One of the main benefits of using frosted glass, is because it allows natural light to pass through it yet offers privacy for the customer.

Brush steel ironmongery was chosen as the customer liked the contrast between the dark coloured door and the ironmongery. Brush steel ironmongery gives a lighter and brighter note to the door as the colour chosen was dark.

The bottom stretch of the door had traditional raised and fielded panelling, meaning the central panel pops up from its outer profiled edges, giving a raised center.
